Position Title: Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Position Description

The Principal Electrical Engineer manages medium to large, complex projects. They have broad technical authority and may oversee a team of Electrical Engineers and Designers. They may act as the Lead Electrical Engineer, responsible for all technical and scheduling aspects of the discipline on assigned projects. Work is reviewed periodically by the Chief Electrical Engineer for goal achievement.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare or review project specifications for electrical discipline.
• Develop or review inquiries for equipment, materials, and subcontracting.
• Approve technical bid evaluations in collaboration with Procurement.
• Design and review layouts for switchgear and MCC buildings.
• Oversee factory acceptance testing of equipment.
• Review plot plans and electrical requirements for facilities.
• Coordinate with client personnel regarding electrical activities.
• Review and approve vendor documentation.
• Prepare or review project reports, work plans, and logs.
• Ensure scope of work aligns with project specifications and proposals.
• Be available for short or extended site assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in pipeline facilities.
• Knowledge of industry standards (IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, API, AGA, ISA, ANSI).
• Proficiency with engineering computer systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of SKM software is desirable.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.
