The Open Communications Systems (OCS) organization within Collins Aerospace, is designing communications systems for Next Generation technologies across a wide variety of platforms

We are hiring a Principal Electrical Engineer to work onsite in Fort Wayne, IN.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs for modern communication systems

  • Circuit card design including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.

  • Design and implement test plans to ensure compliance to requirements and specifications

  • Work with third party vendors for design and component selection

  • Work closely with different engineering disciplines

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

  • Minimum of8 years of engineering digital circuit design experience to include at least 2 of the following:

  • Development and design of electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit design

  • Ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level to development of a complete hardware design, and verification via test and integration

  • Experience with PCB designprocess and expertise in tools used to design (schematic capture), analyze and simulate designs prior to hardware execution.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active/current security clearance

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis and design for production

  • Complex circuit card assemblies between 16 and 32 layers

  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Design Creation(Siemens EDA)tools: DxDesigner, xDX Designer VX, and Xilinx (Zynq Ultrascale, Vivado, Atrix)

  • Experience using PCB electronic circuit design software: HyperLynx signal integrity, power integrity, and analog simulation, Xpedition Enterprise (xPCB)

  • Knowledge of software and/or FPGA code development

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
