Job summary

Raytheon in Goleta, CA seeks an electrical engineer to join the Hardware/Firmware Engineering Department. You will analyze requirements, decompose subsystems, and develop designs, models, and verifications for complex military systems.

You’ll work in integrated teams across airborne, naval, and land platforms, covering digital design, embedded systems, and FPGA development. Preferred candidates have DSP, FPGA, Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL, and MATLAB/Simulink experience, plus a STEM degree and 8+

Qualifications

• STEM degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
• Experience with FPGA design and firmware integration.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink including DSP Builder and HDL Coder.
• Knowledge of digital hardware design and firmware integration.

Responsibilities

• Perform requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification testing.
• Work on new product development from customer descriptions and specifications.
• Collaborate in integrated product teams to design, develop, and manufacture advanced systems for airborne, naval, and land-based military use.
• Engage in detailed digital design, embedded systems, and FPGA development.
• Conduct circuit analysis, circuit simulation, FPGA programming, and create design documentation.
• Verify hardware and software integration at the component and PCB level.

Responsibilities

• This position is for an electrical engineer to work in the Hardware/Firmware Engineering Department at the Electronic Warfare Systems of Raytheon.
• Be responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub‑system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test.
• Work on new product development based on descriptions and specifications provided by our customers.
• Work in integrated product teams to design, develop, and manufacture complex state‑of‑the‑art systems for airborne, naval, and land‑based military applications.
• Activities include detailed digital design, embedded systems, and FPGA development.
• Specific tasks include circuit analysis, circuit simulation, FPGA programming, design documentation, design verification and testing, and integration of hardware and software at the level of electronic components and circuit boards.

Required Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Digital Signal Processing.
• Intel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx FPGAs.
• Designing in Matlab/Simulink with DSP Builder and HDL Coder blocksets.
• Digital hardware design and firmware integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi FPGAs.
• Experience with High Level Modeling tools and languages such as SystemVerilog or HDL Coder.
• Experience in embedded electronics, VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog, schematic capture, signal processing, RF, FPGA.

• The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD.
