SAIC has an opening for a Principal Electrical Engineer in Huntsville, AL to join a team delivering hardware and software solutions for Army aviation and missile systems. The role focuses on robust HW/FW design, verification, and systems engineering across the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will perform power budgeting, circuit design, DVT, documentation, risk assessment, and reviews, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with customers and internal peers.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 9+ years experience; 6 years can substitute degree.
• Must already have a DoD SECRET clearance or be able to obtain interim DoD SECRET clearance prior to first day of employment; US Citizenship required. Current SECRET clearance is preferred.
• Knowledge in Embedded MCU HW/FW design, FPGA design, high-speed digital and analog design; MBSE desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform power budget analysis for fixed and mounted computing environment systems.
• Perform circuit design, analysis, simulation and component selection for high availability, high reliability and low Size, Weight and Power (SWAP) environments.
• Direct design verification testing (DVT) of prototype electronic designs.
• Generate and review documentation for a Technical Data Package (TDP) for hardware/firmware components.
• Assess technical and integration risks and identify mitigations.
• Review test plans and procedures.
• Review and adjudicate Deficiency Reports.
• Review milestone contract deliverables and provide recommendations across lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers.
