Merge Labs is seeking a Principal/Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the design and validation of core electronic systems for advanced brain-computer interface research. You will own critical board-level architectures, integrate ASICs and FPGAs, and ensure high-reliability data acquisition for cutting-edge experiments.

You will develop automated test infrastructure, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance, safety, and usability standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in designing complex electronic systems.
• Proven track record in architecture, board bring-up, and manufacturing transfer.
• Expertise in mixed-signal design and high-speed digital integration.
• Strong debugging and test automation skills.
• Proficient in Python and C/C++ for hardware integration.
• Systematic approach to calibration, uncertainty, and reproducibility.
• Experience delivering manufacturable designs with vendor collaboration.

Responsabilités

• Architect, design, simulate, and verify complex electronics with ASICs, FPGAs, and interfaces.
• Own PCBAs and system-level electrical architecture including SI/PI and EMC/EMI.
• Develop automated test and characterization infrastructure and firmware.
• Build instrumentation transforming bench setups into repeatable workflows.
• Define performance criteria and validate results for reproducibility.
• Manage vendor relationships and production readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure usability and performance.
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices for design reviews.
