Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer based in United States.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on designing, developing, and validating advanced electronic modules for automotive OEM and aftermarket applications.

The role will shape electrical system architectures, lead circuit design, and drive products from concept through prototype, validation, and commercial launch.

You will work closely with product, mechanical, manufacturing, and software engineering teams to translate requirements into reliable, manufacturable solutions.

The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, design reviews, failure analysis, regulatory compliance, and product reliability.

You will also mentor engineers and technicians while helping establish stronger design processes, testing methodologies, and engineering standards.

Success will require a strong systems mindset, attention to quality and compliance, and the ability to solve complex electrical engineering challenges.

The role offers the opportunity to influence innovative automotive products while contributing to intellectual property and long-term technology development.

Accountabilities
  • Define and oversee electrical architectures for new products, including power systems, signal integrity, component selection, and system-level design considerations.
  • Lead analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design using appropriate schematic and PCB design tools.
  • Guide prototype development and validation activities, ensuring products are thoroughly tested against defined electrical and system requirements.
  • Collaborate with product managers, mechanical and manufacturing engineers, software teams, and other stakeholders to define electrical requirements and technical specifications.
  • Lead formal design reviews to evaluate quality, compliance, manufacturability, reliability, and overall product readiness.
  • Develop and oversee design verification and validation activities, including DVP and test plans, external testing, and hands-on engineering assessments.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable standards and requirements, including UL, CE, FCC, and RoHS.
  • Lead electrical failure investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and reliability improvements.
  • Apply best practices related to thermal management, EMI/EMC, signal integrity, and long-term product reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and promoting consistent engineering practices.
  • Improve electrical design processes, documentation standards, testing protocols, and product development methodologies.
  • Evaluate emerging electrical and electronic technologies and determine their applicability to future products and platforms.
  • Contribute to innovative design solutions, patents, and other intellectual property initiatives.
  • Follow established product development processes to ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Support customer-facing technical discussions and provide expert engineering input when required.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience with a demonstrated record of successfully developing and launching commercially available products.
  • Strong expertise in system-level electrical design, product development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience designing analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits, including schematic development and component selection.
  • Experience with worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA) and hardware simulation or circuit analysis techniques.
  • Experience developing DFMEA, design verification plans, validation strategies, and comprehensive test plans.
  • Experience defining electrical requirements, specifications, testing, validation, and quality criteria for automotive products.
  • Automotive engineering experience is strongly preferred, particularly involving braking, lighting, towing, or related vehicle systems.
  • Working knowledge of PCB layout and schematic capture tools such as Altium, Mentor Graphics, OrCAD, or Cadence.
  • Familiarity with UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, and other applicable electrical and electronic product standards.
  • Strong understanding of electrical reliability, EMI/EMC, thermal considerations, and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced engineers, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and technical communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports, specifications, correspondence, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% as required.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Vacation, personal, and holiday days.
  • Career development, mentoring, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Inclusive and supportive workplace culture that values diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative automotive products and commercially launched technologies.
  • Exposure to advanced electrical engineering, product validation, reliability, and technology development initiatives.
