Base pay range

$65.00/hr - $85.00/hr

Principal Electrical Engineer (12 month contract)

Top 3 Skills Required:

  • Experience with Electrical design, debug, troubleshooting, characterization, verification/validation, and final PCB design
  • Experience with design for and verification of IEC 60601 Compliance
  • Test automation (LabVIEW) and software validation

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project 1:
  • Act as primary lead while working cross-functionally with Systems/Reliability functions for the design and build of external cardiac therapy devices for IDE studies
  • This is essentially a housing that allows clinicians to interact with and program implantable ICDs/ICMs
  • The team will be building 10-15 of the devices in total
  • Characterization of design and circuitry (including planning and execution)
  • Development / execution of Verification and Validation testing for product and hardware requirements
  • Project 2: Support some bench testing (i.e. current drain testing) for an existing diagnostic device
  • This will likely result in the need for updates to Production Testing SOPs, execution of change impact assessments, and final change management to ensure everything remains compliant

Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required, but advanced degree would be preferred

Required Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Must Have:

  • A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering is required
  • One or more years’ experience in medical device product development or equivalent is required
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601 standards
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and proven hands-on electronic/mechanical skills
  • 4-8 years’ demonstrated experience and expertise with product testing, test equipment, analysis methodologies and test documentation preferred
  • Design and verification of medical electrical equipment
  • Development of user needs and design input requirements
  • Experience in testing electro-mechanical systems and familiarity with standard test equipment
  • 2-4 years’ experience in designing test fixtures

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with Protection Circuity
  • Analysis of schematics and PCB design
  • Experience with LabVIEW preferred
