Arcadis is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to design electrical power systems for municipal water and wastewater projects. The role supports the South Region of our Resilience Water Business, with leadership responsibilities across design, fieldwork, and client engagement in the East/Mid-Atlantic area.
The candidate will lead teams, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards while using ETAP/SKM tools for power system studies and arc-flash analysis.

Arcadis is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer with experience in designing electrical power systems for the municipal water/wastewater industry to join our team in either Florida, Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, DC. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will utilize your technical capabilities to collaborate with our experienced team of professionals, providing technical and design consulting services with a focus on electrical power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding design to support projects for the South Region of our Resilience Water Business. In addition to managing tasks, manage team work, overseeing the work of junior engineering professionals, and being an industry leader supporting the growth of our municipal water / wastewater practice.
This role is responsible for the electrical design and coordination of various projects with an emphasis on medium and low voltage power distribution, motor controls, lighting, and grounding for water/wastewater projects.
The candidate in this role is required to have at least 12 years of relevant work experience, hold a bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, and possess a Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida.
The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of the National Electrical Code – NFPA 70, as well as NFPA 820 and NFPA 70E. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of AutoCAD, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Sharepoint, Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook. They will also be performance-driven and able to work productively both independently and as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary design team, with ability and desire to mentor and manage junior/staff engineers on multiple concurrent projects.
The ideal candidate will have 15 years of relevant experience and the ability to obtain reciprocity for a Professional Engineering (PE) license in other states and Puerto Rico. They will also demonstrate a solid working knowledge of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, field instrumentation, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) as they relate to electrical design, along with experience using ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or other power systems analysis software. NFPA 70E training is also preferred.
Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $155,000 - $185,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
