Job summary

Raytheon in Goleta, CA seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to design and develop Electronic Warfare electronics for defense applications, spanning mixed-signal, FPGA, SoC, and subsystem work.

You will act as SME in one subdiscipline, lead hardware architectures, perform schematic capture, validation, and lab testing, support radar receivers, and collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers on multiple programs onsite.

Qualifications

Role

Raytheon Electronic Warfare - Electrical and Electronics Engineering team in Goleta, California has an immediate opening for a Principal Electrical Engineer to design and develop Electronic Warfare (EW) electronics products for defense applications.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop a broad range of mixed-signal circuits including but not limited to Power, Analog, Digital, FPGA, SoC and Subsystems.
• Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one Electronic Engineering subdiscipline and have a working knowledge of them all.
• Perform digital/analog hardware architecture, schematic capture, design analysis, simulation, lab validation and troubleshooting of complex electronic assemblies and systems.
• Support radar Warning Receivers (RWR) and other EW products, requiring familiarity with RF circuitry and system interfaces.
• Support multiple programs concurrently; generate requirements documentation, design artifacts, verification and test plans.
• Act as a technical leader within a cross-disciplinary product development team with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers.
• Occasional business travel may be required.

Qualifications

You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years or an advanced degree with minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Experience in schematic capture, PCB layout support, signal integrity analysis, and validation of FPGA-based digital and mixed-signal systems, including power conversion and power delivery network design.
• Experience with industry-standard design and simulation tools such as Mentor Xpedition (or equivalent), SPICE-based simulators, MATLAB, and HyperLynx SI for high-speed signal integrity.
• Experience developing system-level block diagrams and hardware architectures; creation and management of detailed BOMs for complex electronic assemblies.
• Experience in laboratory testing and troubleshooting electronic hardware using bench power supplies, signal and waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, programming tools, and hardware emulators.

We Prefer

• Experience designing FPGA-based circuitry and JTAG programming of FPGA devices.
• Experience designing airborne electronic products with considerations for size, weight, power, reliability, and cost.
• Understanding of modern electronic system design, including high-performance FPGAs, memory interfaces, A/D and D/A conversion, and mixed-signal circuit analysis.
• Electrical design and analysis with Mentor Graphics XPedition and HyperLynx SI, SPICE; experience with design of CCAs with FPGAs, memory, ADCs/DACs, and power integration.
• Experience with RF components or RF circuitry and POL supplies for RF systems.

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD and is a good faith estimate. RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
