Job summary

Frontline Source Group is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in the Dallas, TX area for a direct-hire, onsite role. The senior individual contributor will own electrical architecture across a portfolio of connected hardware products.

Responsibilities include schematic design, PCBA layout, certification, and production ramp. Strong EDA tool proficiency and 10+ years of related work are required; collaboration with contract manufacturers is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with ownership of PCB schematic design and PCBA layout.
• Experience taking products from concept through volume production.
• Experience with cellular modules and certification processes (PTCRB, carrier).
• Familiarity with FCC/UL certification and EMI/EMC pre-compliance.
• Proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium, KiCad, Eagle, or Fusion Electronics.
• Understanding of DFM/DFT and design for reliability.
• Hands-on board-level debugging with scopes, analyzers, multimeters.
• Experience partnering with contract manufacturers on DFM and production ramp.
• Mentor/lead engineers; strong communication and problem solving.
• Experience estimating work in Agile environments; on-site in Dallas area.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical architecture across product lifecycle and technical roadmap.
• Lead schematic capture and PCBA layout decisions for reliability and cost.
• Develop modular hardware architectures reducing variation and complexity.
• Manage component lifecycles, obsolescence, and second-sourcing strategies.
• Own wireless connectivity across products, including cellular and sub GHz tech.
• Lead module selection, RF design, and certification activities (FCC/PTCRB).
• Guide designs from concept to prototype, validation, certification, and ramp.
• Review schematics/layouts (DFM/DFT) prior to manufacturing release.
• Collaborate with firmware teams on MCU/radio integration; document specs.
• Produce engineering docs: schematics, BOMs, layouts, test reports; mentor peers.
