Masimo Corporation in Irvine, CA seeks a Principal Engineer, Algorithm – ECG to lead architecture, development, and advancement of ECG signal processing for its non-invasive platforms.

You will drive innovation in heart-rate and rhythm analysis, translate physiological signals into clinically actionable outputs, and partner with hardware, software, and clinical teams to deliver regulatory-compliant solutions from concept to deployment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of ECG algorithm development or related signal processing experience.
• Deep expertise in ECG signal processing and statistical modeling.
• Proven experience developing ECG algorithms including waveform detection.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, MATLAB, Python.
• Experience with large-scale physiological/clinical datasets.
• Ability to translate complex signal processing challenges into real-time solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
• Willingness to work onsite in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced ECG signal processing algorithms, including filtering, feature extraction, waveform delineation, and rhythm classification.
• Architect scalable algorithm frameworks for ECG analysis, supporting real-time embedded implementation and cloud-based analytics where applicable.
• Develop and optimize algorithms for heart rate detection, arrhythmia identification, and ECG morphology analysis.
• Design and conduct validation strategies using clinical datasets to ensure algorithm accuracy and generalizability.
• Address signal quality challenges including motion artifact and noise reduction.
• Partner with hardware and systems teams to ensure optimal signal acquisition and end-to-end system performance.
• Collaborate with software and firmware teams to implement algorithms on embedded platforms with real-time constraints.
• Translate clinical and regulatory requirements into algorithm design inputs ensuring FDA/IEC compliance.
• Establish best practices for algorithm verification, validation, and documentation in regulated environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers; contribute to IP and publications.
