ZipStaff is seeking a Principal Dynatrace Platform Engineer to lead the enterprise observability program and act as the Dynatrace SME for a national transportation client. You will own the architecture, design, and deployment of scalable, self-service automation for observability across hybrid-cloud environments, using advanced features like Davis AI and synthetic monitoring.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in APM and observability administration.
• Dynatrace Master/Gold certification preferred.
• Strong scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell or Go with Dynatrace API usage.
• Experience deploying OneAgent and ActiveGates across cloud/on-prem.
• CI/CD pipelines integration and Terraform/Monaco IaC experience.
• Excellent communication with technical leadership and stakeholders.
• On-site work in Washington, DC.

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is hiring a Principal Dynatrace Platform Engineer for our client, a national passenger transportation organization, to serve as the subject matter expert and lead observability architect for its enterprise Dynatrace ecosystem. You will own the architecture, design and deployment of scalable self-service automation workflows that streamline observability across complex hybrid-cloud environments, using advanced capabilities such as Davis AI root-cause analysis, synthetic monitoring, distributed tracing and automated remediation to give product and engineering teams actionable operational intelligence.

What You'll Do

• Architect, implement and maintain high-availability Dynatrace deployment strategies across multi-cloud and on-premises enterprise environments.
• Design, build and operationalize self-service automation tools, APIs and CI/CD integrations to simplify agent rollouts, synthetic script deployments and monitoring lifecycle management.
• Leverage advanced Dynatrace capabilities including Davis AI tuning, Cloud Automation, SLO/SLA dashboards, OneAgent configuration and distributed tracing.
• Define enterprise observability best practices, tagging taxonomies, alerting policies and configuration-as-code (Monaco / Terraform) frameworks to ensure clean governance and prevent alert fatigue.
• Partner with SRE, DevOps and application delivery teams to drive observability adoption, troubleshoot critical bottlenecks and lead incident post-mortem analysis.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise application performance management (APM) and observability administration.
• Proven expertise at a Dynatrace Master or Gold-Certified level.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell or Go, including the Dynatrace API and Configuration-as-Code (Monaco / Terraform provider).
• Experience deploying and configuring OneAgents and ActiveGates across Kubernetes/OpenShift and major cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Deep familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions) and integrating automated performance gates into release cycles.
• Outstanding ability to design scalable systems, document technical blueprints and communicate observability insights to technical leaders and stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Dynatrace Master certification.
• Experience supporting large-scale transportation or other mission-critical enterprise environments.
• Experience leading observability programs in SRE-driven organizations.
