Job description

ChampionX has an immediate need for a Principal Discipline Engineer (Chemical Manufacturing) to work out of our Sugar Land, TX. Reporting to the Director of Process Technology and Quality, this role focuses on supporting global manufacturing operations by providing advice, guidance, and direction on technical aspects to continually improve process safety, efficiency, and quality performance. The engineer will serve as a key liaison between centralized operations and manufacturing sites.

The individual must be an excellent communicator capable of working effectively with personnel across R&D, Marketing, Procurement, and the global supply chain. A strong sense of ownership, planning, organizing, and data-driven decision-making are essential.

What You Will Do:
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the reaction or blend areas globally, providing expert advice
  • Identify and share best practices across manufacturing operations to enhance robustness, yield, and quality
  • Implement industry best practices to support world-class manufacturing
  • Specify and support installation of new equipment
  • Lead process safety initiatives, setting standards for design principles and validating process hazard assessments
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring manufacturing issues
  • Support global quality assurance processes, including GTT, PST, and ASAP
  • Coordinate new product introductions, ensuring resource allocation and guidance to R&D&E
  • Contribute to network optimization and make-vs-buy decisions to maximize EBITDA
  • Support digital strategy by providing SME input
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • At least 5 years of experience in chemical processing within a global manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with chemical manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in product or process development
  • Advanced technical or business degree
  • Leadership experience in project and process management
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification
  • Strong safety background, with experience in FMEA, PHA, PSSR
  • Hands-on statistical analysis experience
