Position: Principal/Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote (U.S. Based)

Clearance: MBI, Active Secret/Top Secret, or MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) preferred; Public Trust considered

Contract: 6-month Contract-to-Hire

Join a high-impact federal modernization initiative as a Principal or Senior DevOps Engineer with Brooksource, supporting a leading federal financial agency. This program is reimagining how the agency delivers digital services—focusing on developer experience, cloud adoption, DevSecOps practices, and automation at scale. You'll play a critical role in shaping technical strategy, modernizing infrastructure, and building secure, scalable platforms for mission-critical systems.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native infrastructure for secure, scalable delivery
• Lead containerization efforts and application deployments on platforms like Kubernetes
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar IaC frameworks
• Partner with engineers and federal stakeholders to improve developer experience and release velocity
• Embed security and compliance into delivery workflows to meet federal standards
• Mentor engineers, define best practices, and build reusable internal tools and templates
• Lead incident response and post-mortems for production issues
• Support related efforts such as Jira migrations and legacy system modernization

Required Experience

• 8+ years in DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering
• Proven experience with AWS and deploying applications at scale
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Strong with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with DevSecOps: testing, monitoring, secrets, and vulnerability management
• Track record of working independently and delivering end-to-end solutions
• Experience supporting both engineering and platform teams
• Clear communicator with ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity in large federal environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Federal IT experience, especially with IRS or similar agencies
• Blend of public and private sector experience
• Experience with Jira migrations and administration
• Familiarity with Java/React and legacy system modernization
• Background in compliance-heavy industries and integrating audit requirements
• Active MRPT or higher clearance
