Alder is building an intelligence-first operating system for eldercare, hosted on AWS with a data lakehouse at its core. The Principal DevOps & Data Engineer is a hybrid role that owns the platform and the data layer, ensuring reliability, compliance and cost efficiency while analytics features are enabled.
You will collaborate with data and application engineers, implement HIPAA-aligned guardrails, and mentor the team.
For over 30 years, Alder has been a trusted guide for more than 5,000 families across the Northeast, helping them navigate the aging journey with compassion, clarity, and expert care. Our life care managers are seasoned social workers and nurses, providing both strategic direction and hands‑on support, from coordinating medical care and assessing home safety to attending appointments and facilitating meaningful family conversations.
Deeply rooted in the community, we leverage a broad professional network to connect families with trusted resources and foster collaboration across disciplines. Whether offering occasional consultations or urgent crisis support, we tailor our involvement to meet each individual’s unique needs. At the heart of our work is a simple goal: to help families approach the practical and emotional aspects of aging with confidence.

The Principal DevOps & Data Engineer is a hybrid role that owns two tightly linked things: the platform that runs on (multi‑account AWS, EKS, CI/CD, observability, security controls) and the data infrastructure that turns events and legacy system feeds into trusted, analytics‑ready data (S3 medallion lakehouse, dbt, Athena). You will work alongside our data engineer and application engineers, and you will be the person who makes the platform reliable, compliant and cheap to operate while the data layer becomes the foundation for intelligence features.
