Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Bay Area to design and implement advanced database execution features for scalable SQL processing. You will explore new extensions, work on performance optimization, and mentor junior engineers in a research-oriented environment.

The role emphasizes vectorized and columnar processing, automated query optimization, and leveraging on-disk and in-memory storage to boost performance across large-scale data workloads.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, systems programming, computer architecture and SQL.
• Strong C programming and debugging skills.
• Knowledge of parallel processing, threads, concurrency and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software for databases and cloud services with emphasis on SQL extensions.
• Analyze performance and scalability of features and improve them.
• Mentor and provide direction as a leading individual contributor.
