Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Principal Engineer – Data Science for the Transformation Command Center. You will lead independent data science work, build production-grade models, and partner with Consumer, Network, and Strategy teams to translate business challenges into actionable analytics.

The role requires deep coding, statistics, and ML expertise, with a track record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions and executive-level communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or 4+ years of work experience.
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong Python and SQL for data extraction and analysis.
• Proven ML models and time-series forecasting in enterprise settings.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Tableau, Grafana).
• Ability to independently manage technical project lifecycles and present findings to management.

Responsibilities

• Query, clean, merge, and manipulate large datasets using SQL and Python.
• Design, validate, and deploy ML models and time-series forecasts.
• Lead analytics projects end-to-end from scoping to executive presentation.
• Develop dashboards and visual reporting for executive metrics.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business problems into data workflows.
