Principal Data Scientist – Government Consumer Analytics

Position Summary

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join our Government Consumer Analytics team. This high-level individual contributor will partner closely with the AVP of Government Consumer Analytics to lead technical excellence across complex projects, foster a culture of rigor and innovation, and establish standards across an organization of approximately 80 data scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced algorithms and predictive models, applying cutting-edge theories to solve high-impact business problems.
  • Establish analytical rigor and employ advanced statistical techniques to analyze large datasets from multiple sources.
  • Evaluate and incorporate industry-leading approaches into CVS Health’s technical strategies.
  • Manage 2-3 complex projects simultaneously, balancing hands-on work, problem-solving, and mentorship.
Technical Development & Mentorship
  • Conduct team-wide technical office hours and provide 1:1 coaching to team members.
Standards & Best Practices
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and guide the development of enterprise-wide analytics strategies.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive analytics experience.
  • 8+ years leading analytics projects from conception to delivery, with stakeholder coordination.
  • 8+ years working with advanced analytics tools, large datasets, and statistical/machine learning techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), and experience with causal inference and experimental design.
  • 5+ years of industry experience with strong communication skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry specifics.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; Master’s or PhD preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
