Google LLC in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Principal Data Scientist for Google Search to drive understanding of user behavior and tackle existential problems for the future of Search. You will collaborate with executives to build systems that impact billions of users worldwide.

Required are a data science background, extensive experience, and the ability to influence cross-functionally. This role emphasizes leadership, AI familiarity, and turning ambiguity into clear solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in data science or other quantitative fields such as statistics, ML, software engineering, or ML engineering.
• Experience using data insights to drive product and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong measurement framework for broadly defined problems to hill-climb in the right direction.
• Identify and prioritize the most important levers to add user value across surfaces and potential products.
• Establish standards for depth of understanding and accuracy for the Search Data Science organization.
• Build operating pictures for cross-cutting areas like AI experience and align the organization around clarity and expertise.
