Job summary

BlueSteps Connect is seeking a Principal Data Scientist in Puerto Rico to lead the design and continuous improvement of global data pipelines and analytics models across the data services portfolio. The role owns end-to-end data lifecycle responsibilities to ensure performance, automation, and governance.

the client is offering an opportunity to join a global data services environment based in Puerto Rico. This role supports a multinational operations mission focused on delivering solutions through edge technology to a worldwide client base, with the intent that the position can be performed without relocating outside Puerto Rico.

The Principal Data Scientist is the most senior individual contributor within the global data operations organization. The role leads scientific design and continuous improvement of global data pipelines and analytics models for the client’s data services and solutions, owning end-to-end data lifecycle responsibilities to ensure performance and operational excellence across data lifecycle management, automation, and optimization.

Key responsibilities include serving as the scientific authority for data-driven decision intelligence; developing and executing the enterprise AI and advanced analytics strategy; designing and implementing predictive, prescriptive, and generative AI models to improve supply chain efficiency; partnering with data engineers on data pipelines, automated monitoring, and pipeline ingestion/optimization; defining standards for data modeling, storage, tracing, and governance; collaborating with data governance teams to support regulatory compliance; and integrating explainable AI approaches into model designs. Requirements include a Master’s degree in a quantitative field related to data science, computer science, or applied mathematics, with a PhD preferred, and typically at least eight years of experience in data science, data engineering, or applied AI. English proficiency is required, and the role is expected to use relevant data and AI platforms, programming languages, and data governance and observability tools.
