Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the strategic application of advanced quantitative methods across our ads platform. You will define the next generation of data science solutions, partner with Analytics Engineering, and shape measurement, prediction, and optimization across Reddit’s Ads ecosystem.

You will mentor teams, advance causal inference and econometric modeling, and ensure rigorous evaluation and adoption of scalable analytics across product and engineering partners.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or related quantitative discipline.
• For MS holders: 12+ years of industry experience in applied science, data science, or machine learning engineering roles.
• For Ph.D. holders: 8+ years of relevant experience in applied science, data science, or machine learning engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Define the future of Ads Data Science: own the design and long-term evolution of core Ads Data Science solutions and infrastructure.
• Strategic leadership & scientific roadmap: identify gaps and opportunities and lead roadmap for new solutions to improve advertiser ROI, user experience, and Reddit revenue.
• Drive end-to-end impact: own complex domains like full funnel acceleration, advertiser LTV, and predictive/causal frameworks.
• Establish scientific standards: codify best practices for large-scale statistical modeling, econometric analysis, offline evaluation, and A/B testing.
• Technical deep dive & authority: be the domain authority on large-scale behavioral data and foundational models for insights and marketplace dynamics.
• Translate ambiguity into outcomes: influence metric definitions and measurement methodologies; align with cross-functional teams.
• Influence and uplevel the organization: mentor data scientists and engineers, champion innovation in ad systems.
