Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead AI and NLP initiatives in a remote Illinois-based role. You will architect voice-based search, build ASR and text processing, and design APIs ensuring data quality and privacy across cloud environments.

You will mentor interns, develop multilingual datasets, optimize STT/TTS models, and collaborate with Azure, Google, and AWS to deploy scalable services while guiding research projects.

Qualifications

• Masters degree with 2+ years experience or Bachelor degree with 5+ years experience required.

Connect with a career that matters, and help us build a safer future.## **Department Overview**Motorola Solutions, Inc.## Job Description* Architect a voice-based chat system that allows police officers to perform location search, person search and other day-to-day activities.* Develop AI text processing that takes ASR text and adds capitalization, digitization and punctuation.* Build AI algorithms that take unstructured data and converts it to structured data that enables humans to search over big amounts of data.* Design new ways to create parsers that can be used for any general search-based applications using LLMs.* Manage interns and guide them with various data science projects as part of research park innovation center.* Design REST API and build data governance to ensure quality, security and privacy of customer data.* Experience with Azure, Google and AWS cloud services to deploy services and containers.* Natural language database queries in an end-to-end public safety ecosystem.* Work with LLMs designing prompts and fine tuning for specific tasks.* Build chatbots using various frameworks such as Rasa, Voiceflow and Google DFCX.* Develop AI text processing algorithms that enable free text and voice-based interactions between humans and large computer systems.* Architect a voice-based chat system that allows police officers to perform location search, person search and other day-to-day activities.* Mentoring junior data scientists developing NLP and text processing algorithms.* Design multilingual datasets that can be used for training and testing multilingual translation models.* Develop queries that are optimized to retrieve data fast while reading from ELK stack.* Develop and evaluate custom datasets to assess and fine-tune STT (speech to text) and TTS (text to speech) models for optimal performance and continuous improvement.* Managing cloud-based provisioning system with real-time updates and radio integration.* Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.Target Base Salary Range: $139,818 to $178,600 USDConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
