Job summary

Halozyme is seeking a Principal Engineer 1, Data Platforms to lead the data platform, architect solutions, and drive delivery with urgency and accountability. You will work with business partners to translate needs into platform capabilities and ensure measurable value as adoption grows.

You will guide a team of data engineers, design end-to-end ingestion pipelines, and uphold engineering standards while coordinating with external partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering or analytics infrastructure roles.
• Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric in lakehouses and data pipelines.
• Strong PySpark, T-SQL, Python and ELT/ETL design patterns.
• Experience leading data engineers or analytics engineers.
• Familiar with data governance tooling and quality frameworks.
• Pharma or regulated industry experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for Halozyme's data lakehouse architecture and CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor engineers via code reviews and architectural guidance.
• Design production data ingestion across 50+ source systems (ERP, Veeva, LIMS, ELN, CTMS, HRIS).
• Collaborate with external partners to ensure delivery quality and standards.
• Partner with R&D, Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Corporate functions to align data capabilities.
• Define and run platform KPIs for reliability, freshness, performance and onboarding velocity.
• Implement data quality monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Build semantic layer (Power BI datasets) and governance-conscious access controls.
