Job summary

Highnote Platform, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks a Principal Software Engineer - Data Platform to design and build scalable data platforms and pipelines for product and customer data needs.

You will lead development across Java and Python, influence data architecture, and partner with stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions. We value AI-enabled development, cloud expertise (GCP/AWS), and fintech experience.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building high-volume data platforms and pipelines.
• Experience with distributed event tech (Pubsub, Kafka, Kinesis).
• Proficient in SQL/NoSQL design and data modeling.
• Strong Java 11+ or Python 3.7+ coding skills.
• Cloud experience on GCP or AWS; Docker and Kubernetes.
• Fintech domain background is a plus.
• Experience with AI-powered development tools a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build secure, scalable data platforms powering product and customer needs.
• Write high-quality, well-tested Java and Python code.
• Interpret business/data needs to design the right solutions.
• Document work to support scaling and onboarding.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create new data products.
