Job summary

Occidental Petroleum Corporation seeks a Principal Data & AI Platform Engineer to define and lead the enterprise data and analytics ecosystem. You will design a modern, Azure/SAP-based platform anchored on Microsoft Fabric, OneLake and SAP BDC, delivering centralized, scalable analytics and AI solutions.

You will own the roadmap and standards, build infrastructure-as-code patterns, and partner with stakeholders to translate strategy into trusted, production-grade solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience building data platforms on Azure and SAP, with Fabric/OneLake/Data Factory experience.
• Strong data modeling, governance, security, and auditable analytics discipline.
• Ability to translate business strategy into scalable, cost-efficient data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Define the technology vision, roadmap, and architectural standards for the enterprise data and analytics platform.
• Design and lead the build of a modern Azure/SAP-based data platform leveraging Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Warehouse) and SAP BDC.
• Own the design and deployment of dimensional and semantic data models for governed, self-service reporting.
• Establish enterprise data governance—data quality, security, lineage, and compliance controls.
• Determine Azure and SAP cohesion to apply the right fit per use case.
• Design and lead Fabric data pipelines for batch, CDC, and incremental ingestion.
• Architect integration patterns for time-series, PI historian, SAP BDC/Datasphere/CPI.

We are seeking a Principal Data & AI Platform Engineer to define and lead the vision for our enterprise data and analytics ecosystem. In this senior, hands-on role, you will design and build a modern, Azure and SAP-based data platform-anchored on Microsoft Fabric, OneLake and SAP BDC that delivers centralized, scalable, and governed capabilities for analytics, reporting, and AI across the organization. You will own the technology roadmap and architectural standards, design the integration and infrastructure-as-code frameworks that other engineers build upon, and partner closely with business and technical stakeholders to translate strategy into trusted, production-grade solutions. The ideal candidate pairs deep, current technical mastery with the judgment to set direction and hands on engineering to ensure the platform is secure, cost-effective, and aligned to long-term business goals.

Responsibilities

• Define the technology vision, roadmap, and architectural standards for the enterprise data and analytics platform, ensuring tight alignment with business goals and establishing the patterns other engineers build upon.
• Design and lead the build of a modern, Azure/SAP-based data platform leveraging Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Warehouse) and SAP BDC, integration patterns, setting the foundation for enterprise-wide analytics and reporting at scale.
• Own the design and deployment of dimensional and semantic data models and curated datasets that deliver performant, governed, self-service reporting - establishing modeling standards adopted across the organization.
• Establish enterprise data governance - data quality, security, lineage, and compliance controls across the platform - to guarantee trusted, audit-ready analytics.
• Determine Azure and SAP cohesion/coexistence to determine right fit per use case
• Design and lead the build of Fabric data pipelines for batch, CDC, and incremental ingestion, architecting reusable patterns for transforming on-premises relational data into the cloud platform.
• Architect integration frameworks and ingestion patterns for time-series, PI historian, SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC)/Datasphere/CPI,
