Job summary

Turnberry Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join its Data Strategy and Intelligence practice in Minnesota. The role focuses on migrating and re-engineering enterprise data platforms, implementing lakehouse patterns, and ensuring governance and data quality across pipelines.

Hybrid work with 3-4 days onsite in Golden Valley. Responsibilities include validating pipelines, partnering with governance and architecture teams, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience with complex enterprise platforms.
• Experience migrating or re-engineering large data platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance patterns: audit trails, reconciliation, DQ controls, SCD versioning.
• Strong analytical ability to read implementations and identify intent vs. defect.
• Hands-on focus with ability to contribute to design discussions.
• Excellent communication with business, governance, and engineering stakeholders.
• Experience in regulated/enterprise-scale environments (financial services a plus).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to assessment and re-engineering of an enterprise data platform.
• Reverse-engineer and validate pipelines, models, and governance controls.
• Identify gaps and remediate technical debt across the platform.
• Ensure correct data processing patterns (SCD, CDC, deduplication).
• Implement target-state lakehouse designs with fidelity to business rules.
• Support migration, including parallel runs and cutover validation.
• Migrate workloads preserving governance and control semantics.
• Re-implement pipelines on target platforms with audit and reconciliation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to validate data quality requirements.
• Mentor engineers and support decommissioning of legacy components.
