Overview

Principal Data Center Physical Security Systems Engineer – responsible for technical leadership, design coordination, vendor management, and delivery of physical security systems across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure data center construction projects. The role ensures systems meet reliability, scalability, cybersecurity, and operational readiness requirements.

Location & Relocation

Based in El Paso, TX/Las Cruces, NM. Relocation assistance available. Applicants must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the area.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as subject‑matter expert for all physical security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercoms, perimeter security, etc.).
  • Define, review, and enforce technical standards and design requirements; identify gaps, constructability issues, and integration risks early.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor execution of installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Track vendor scope, schedule, quality, and cost performance; review change orders, scope changes, and pricing assumptions.
  • Coordinate with construction, low‑voltage, electrical, and security teams to resolve field issues and support project sequencing.
  • Integrate physical security with data center operations, network, BMS/controls, life safety, and facility management.
  • Develop and support QA/QC processes; review inspection records, test scripts, commissioning plans, and documentation.
  • Track punch list items and ensure all systems are fully tested, documented, and ready for operational acceptance.
  • Act as liaison among design, construction, security operations, commissioning, procurement, networking, and facilities teams; support scheduling, risk registers, readiness trackers, and executive reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement of delivery processes, design standardization, cost, schedule, and quality.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong experience delivering physical security systems in data centers, high‑density campuses, or mission‑critical facilities.
  • Deep technical knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom, perimeter security, badging, security networks, and monitoring platforms.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, device schedules, and commissioning documentation.
  • Understanding of low‑voltage construction, structured cabling, pathways, device installation, labeling, testing, and integration.
  • Proven vendor, contractor, and cross‑functional team management.
  • Experience supporting construction delivery from design coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, closeout, and operational turnover.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills at executive, engineering, and field levels.
  • Commercial awareness: reviewing vendor scope, change orders, pricing, schedule impacts, and performance.
  • Ability to operate independently in a matrixed environment with multiple active projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Security Management, or related field.
  • Ability to travel as required for site inspections and vendor engagements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with hyperscale data centers or cloud infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of AI infrastructure campuses and high‑density data halls.
  • Familiarity with enterprise access control, video management, intrusion detection, badging, visitor management, and security operations platforms.
  • Understanding of global security standards, regional codes, and secure facility operations.
  • Experience in commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational turnover, and facility acceptance processes.
  • Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP, PMP, RCDD, BICSI, Lenel/S2, Genetec, Avigilon, CCure, Axis, OSHA, or related credentials.
  • Experience developing standards, templates, inspection checklists, test scripts, or delivery playbooks.
