Job summary

RMI is seeking a Principal, Power Systems & Data Centers to lead cross-program advisory work for the data center sector. The role focuses on translating rapid digital infrastructure growth into strategic opportunities for clean energy deployment and grid resilience.

You will integrate capabilities across multiple teams, build external partnerships, and guide complex engagements from concept to delivery, while shaping RMI's institutional theory of change for data centers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain RMI's institutional theory of change for data centers.
• Identify the most important system-level barriers, leverage points, and interventions to align data center growth with clean energy.
• Integrate perspectives from Electricity, Buildings, Industries, Intelligence, Climate Finance, Third Derivative, and others into a coherent data center strategy.
• Identify priority stakeholders including hyperscalers, colocation providers, developers, utilities, regulators, policymakers, investors, and communities.
• Monitor changing technology, market, policy, infrastructure, and investment conditions and adapt strategy accordingly.
• Represent RMI as a senior thought leader at the intersection of data center growth and energy infrastructure.
