Job summary

United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) is seeking a Principal Data Architect to lead end-to-end data architecture for our data intelligence lakehouse, unifying clinical, operational and financial data across multi-cloud and on-prem environments.

You will design models, governance, and secure data access, collaborate with data engineering and science teams, and guide the lakehouse build on Azure and Databricks, shaping AI-enabled analytics for enterprise needs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in technology, including 8+ years in data architecture, data engineering or related technical roles.
• 3+ years working with healthcare data in a regulated environment, including EMR/EHR integration and HIPAA compliance.
• Proven ownership of enterprise data architectures and reusable data product patterns.
• Experience designing a cloud lakehouse on Azure and Databricks using medallion architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own the enterprise data reference architecture across a multi-cloud and on-prem estate.
• Create conceptual and logical data models and guide physical implementations.
• Define enterprise data standards and naming conventions with automated checks.
• Design data integration patterns and document end-to-end data flows.
• Build governance, lineage and data quality rules into the platform.
• Protect PHI and sensitive data with classification, masking, retention, and least-privilege access.
• Lead the lakehouse design for the UNOS data intelligence platform and EMR/EHR integration.
• Design semantic layer for BI and AI, and prepare data for AI features and agents.
• Maintain architecture roadmap and review designs, models and pipelines.
