Principal Data Analyst-Core Analytics

As a Data Analyst at Capital One, you will leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain data solutions to address business challenges.

Your day-to-day work will involve three main areas: Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management:

1. Innovation: Use open source and digital technologies to explore complex, large, and diverse data sources; develop data solutions and tools; and quickly adapt to new technologies.
2. Business Intelligence: Collaborate with business teams to translate needs into dashboards, metrics, and insights that inform strategies.
3. Data Management: Ensure data quality, manage metadata and lineage, collaborate on security and access governance, and develop tools to monitor data quality.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
• Scripting experience in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
• Experience handling various data types, including data warehouses and unstructured data
• Experience with AWS services

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing or obtained a Bachelor’s in a quantitative field plus 5+ years of data analytics experience, or a Master’s plus 3+ years, with degree completion expected by the start date
• At least 3 years of experience with scripting languages, BI visualization tools, and data querying

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s in STEM fields
• 4+ years coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL
• Experience with process management methodologies like Agile, Lean, Six Sigma
• 2+ years working with AWS and data governance in financial services

The salary range varies by location, e.g., McLean, VA: $127,500 - $145,500; Richmond, VA: $115,900 - $132,200.
