Job summary

PEMCO is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions across our insurance portfolio. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for an experienced data scientist who can translate ambiguous business problems into scalable, production‑ready models that drive measurable impact.

As a trusted advisor to leadership, you will mentor senior staff, shape PEMCO's data strategy, and influence analytics roadmaps

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher in CS/AI/Data Science or related field.
10+ years of enterprise AI/ML design/deployment experience.
7+ years with cloud AI platforms (Azure ML, Databricks, Snowflake).
Experience in insurance domain processes (auto/home) preferred.
Proficiency in NLP and generative AI applications.

Responsibilities

Lead development of advanced ML models across core insurance domains (pricing, underwriting, claims, CLV).
Design end-to-end analytical solutions from framing to deployment and monitoring.
Champion model validation, explainability, fairness, and governance.
Collaborate with data engineering to productionize models at scale and ensure reproducibility.
Mentor staff data scientists and promote rigorous scientific thinking.
