Principal Cyber Security Engineer – Starburst Engineering Department

Location: Largo, FL, USA

Position Type: Onsite

Security Clearance: TS/SCI – must have active and transferable Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility on day one.

Responsibilities

• Implement and sustain operational requirements for deployed products and services.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Cost Account Managers and Integrated Product Team Leads to develop and deploy program products and services.
• Operate within a custom, air‑gapped DoD IT network to provide advanced support and direct deployment of new capabilities.
• Create and present materials to explain concepts to diverse audiences.
• Maintain, create, and update system documentation, schematics, operational guides, and procedures.
• Interface with other teams to define, determine, and implement cyber risk posture, cyber risk mitigation and information assurance throughout the enterprise IT service portfolio.

Qualifications

• Solid background in Systems Administration on Linux and Windows desktop and server OS (Windows 11/Server 2022/RHEL).
• Proficient knowledge of Enterprise Identity Management applications and design (LDAP such as Active Directory, PKI).
• Experience with VMware products (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi) and virtualization implementations.
• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+).
• Minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience, or advanced degree in STEM with at least 5 years of experience.
• Must maintain an active, transferable TS security clearance with SCI eligibility prior to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with diverse computing hardware and software platforms, including servers, workstations and COTS applications.
• Experience maintaining Windows servers and troubleshooting applications.
• Experience with custom software applications.
• Experience with enterprise firewalls and accompanying policies/rulesets.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting SIEM tools such as Splunk.

Salary Range: 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD
