Job summary

RTX in Largo, FL is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer II for the Starburst program. You will contribute to development and deployment of cybersecurity solutions, working with cross-disciplinary teams including System and Software Engineers and Field Services.

The role requires an active DoD clearance or ability to obtain TS/SCI, and is onsite with occasional off-site travel. You will prepare system docs and work with internal teams to strengthen cyber risk posture across deployments.

Qualifications

  • Solid background in systems administration with Linux and Windows desktop and server OSs (Windows11, Server2022, RHEL).
  • Understanding of on-prem enterprise IT systems and security implications, including ICAM, secure messaging, logging, Cyber Situational Awareness, and endpoint protection.
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CISSP or Security+) and ability to maintain it.
  • STEM degree and minimum two years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain security requirements for deployed products and services in operational and sustainment states.
  • Operate within a DoD air‑gapped IT network to perform advanced support and deploy new capabilities.
  • Create, present, and update system documentation, schematics, and procedures.
  • Interface with teams to define and implement cyber risk posture across the enterprise IT portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers and leads on program execution.

Job description

Job Summary

The Starburst Engineering Department, located in Largo, FL, is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer II. In this role you will contribute to the development and deployment of Cyber Security solutions on the Starburst program, working within a cross‑disciplinary team that includes System Engineers, Software Engineers, Digital Technology, and Field Services.

Key location information: US‑FL‑LARGO‑382SS ~ 7887 Bryan Dairy Rd., BLDG 100. The position is onsite with occasional off‑site travel.

Security clearance requirement: U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a DoD professional‑level clearance (TS/SCI). The candidate must have or be able to obtain an existing active clearance within one day of hire.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and sustain security requirements for deployed products and services in operational and sustainment states.
  • Operate within a custom, air‑gapped DoD IT network to perform advanced support and deploy new capabilities at a sustained rate.
  • Create, present, and update system documentation, schematics, and operational guides and procedures.
  • Interface with other teams to define, determine, and implement cyber risk posture and mitigation throughout the enterprise IT service portfolio.
  • Work closely with Project Engineers, Cost Account Managers, Integrated Product Team Leads, and Domain Leads on program execution.
Qualifications

You Must Have:

  • Solid background in systems administration with Linux and Windows desktop and server operating systems (Windows11, Server2022, RHEL).
  • Understanding of on‑prem enterprise IT systems and their security implications, including ICAM, secure messaging, logging, Cyber Situational Awareness, and endpoint protection.
  • Active DoD 8570 IAT LevelII certification (e.g., CISSP or Security+) and the ability to maintain it.
  • Typical requirements: a STEM degree and minimum two years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.

We Prefer:

  • Proficient knowledge of enterprise identity management (LDAP/Active Directory) and PKI.
  • Experience with various hardware and software platforms, including COTS applications, firmware, and servers.
  • Experience supporting Windows servers and troubleshooting software applications.
  • Familiarity with enterprise firewalls, firewall policies/rulesets.
  • Basic network engineering fundamentals (OSI layers, IP addressing, subnetting, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, well‑known ports and protocols).
