Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC is seeking a Principal Controls Engineer in Juno Beach, FL. You will define the controls strategy and commissioning lifecycle for a fleet of gas turbine plants, overseeing on-site execution and driving technical excellence across multiple projects.

Travel 25-50% is expected. You will lead engineering teams, mentor engineers, and serve as the technical authority for Gulf Coast assets, ensuring robust, standards-aligned implementations and cybersecurity considerations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required with 7+ years in controls.
• Expertise in gas turbine control platforms and commissioning.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proven track record in large-scale commissioning for energy assets.

Responsibilities

• Develop, standardize, and oversee commissioning and testing strategies for gas turbine control systems across multiple projects.
• Act as ultimate technical escalation point for gas turbine control systems and balance-of-plant integrations.
• Direct and oversee on-site controls commissioning activities with rigorous testing, loop checks, and validation.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with EPC contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to drive integration and resolve architectural conflicts.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to Senior Controls Engineers and project teams.
• Troubleshoot complex control system issues during commissioning, startup, and operations transitions.
• Establish and enforce documentation standards for testing procedures, results, and progress.
• Evaluate new control technologies to ensure safety, cybersecurity, and industry standard compliance.
