RED Engineering Design, an expanding international M&E consultancy, specializes in low energy design and provides innovative solutions to clients. We focus on digital infrastructure, sustainable development, and comprehensive project lifecycle management, emphasizing client interaction and technical excellence.

We are seeking a fully experienced Principal Controls Engineer based in Berlin, Frankfurt, or Düsseldorf.

Role Responsibilities

• Support design and specifications for mechanical and electrical installations, especially in complex, technology-based buildings requiring extensive control and monitoring systems.
• Create points lists for control systems and write sequences of operation after reviewing MEP designs.
• Develop specifications using templates and software tools, and produce plan drawings, schematics, network topology diagrams, and control diagrams as needed.
• Prepare early-stage reports for client approval during design development.
• Review contractor proposals for compliance and conduct condition surveys with improvement plans.
• Represent the company at technical meetings, specify and oversee factory and site acceptance tests, and participate in commissioning activities.

Role Requirements

• HNC/BEng in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Membership in MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE/MIET and working towards Chartered Engineer status.
• Current employment as a BMS/BEMS/Building Automation Consulting Engineer with experience in building automation and monitoring systems.
• Fluent German and professional proficiency in English.
• Understanding of networks, hardware, cabling, and security.
• Ability to support control system designs, maintain clear records, and participate in meetings.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management skills.
• Minimum of 5+ years at a senior engineering level, with an adaptable, proactive approach.
• Willingness to travel internationally, good presentation skills, and familiarity with vendor products like Schneider, Siemens, and Trend.
• Support project delivery, understand standards/regulations, and support commercial aspects of projects.
