Principal Consultant

Located in Europe (UK, Macedonia, Romania, Poland) | Remote | Work from home

Why you?

Are you an experienced Principal Consultant/Solution Architect with a background in presales, working closely with Sales as a MySQL SME and acquiring new customers? In this role, you will focus on delivery, consulting, and improving managed services. You will also mentor technical staff, lead thought leadership initiatives, and help grow our practice.

What will you be doing?

• Providing high-level technical coordination, analysis, design, implementation, and administration of customer IT solutions; resolving escalated technical issues.
• Reviewing the quality of work across teams for adherence to standards.
• Serving as the third-tier escalation point for database consulting teams.
• Developing technical documentation templates for customer work.
• Providing technical leadership on customer accounts and within the practice.

Leading delivery of:

• MySQL deployments, upgrades, migrations, troubleshooting, and recovery.
• Database server configuration, maintenance, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Debugging critical issues in production environments.
• Recommending operational improvements.

Additional responsibilities include reviewing customer requirements, presenting recommendations, assisting with proof-of-concept designs, ensuring customer satisfaction, and contributing to internal and external knowledge sharing, including marketing and training initiatives. Mentoring team members and investigating new technologies are also key aspects.

What do we need from you?

• Expertise in MySQL, MariaDB, Galera Cluster, high availability, and read/write splitting technologies (Orchestrator, ProxySQL).
• Cloud experience with AWS and GCP.
• Typically 15+ years of open-source database experience, with a passion for customer service.
• Relevant certifications are a plus.
• Experience in object-oriented programming languages (Python, GoLang).
• Proficiency in SQL, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation.
• Proven initiative, mentorship skills, and eagerness to stay at the technological forefront.
• Strong communication skills and a track record of executing complex projects to high standards.
