Job summary

ERM is seeking a senior environmental and social impact assessment leader to drive mining and capital projects globally. You will lead client engagement, oversee multidisciplinary delivery, and advance business development to expand ERM’s mining-related EIA services.

The role requires 6–8+ years in impact assessment consulting, a strong client network with mining companies, and credibility with regulators. Global collaboration and IRMA/World Bank experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in sciences, environmental studies, planning, geography, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field
  • 6–8+ years of consulting experience with impact assessment and multi-media permitting, international projects
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business growth strategies within mining, energy, or capital projects sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships and generate bookable sales
  • Established relationships with mining companies
  • Strong understanding of key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector
  • Broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices
  • Recognized technical expertise and established marketplace credibility with regulators
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, collaboration, and influencing skills
  • Experience leading environmental and social impact assessments for projects financed by international lending institutions, including the World Bank
  • Experience supporting projects aligned with IRMA or comparable international sustainability standards
  • International project leadership experience across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary global consulting teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand capital project delivery and the mining client base
  • Provide leadership and deliver performance results to drive double-digit profitable growth
  • Contribute to business development within ERM’s global capital projects service area
  • Identify opportunities and prepare technical proposals
  • Develop and expand client relationships generating repeat business and long-term partnerships
  • Lead technical delivery on environmental and social impact assessments for mining and related capital projects
  • Prepare EIA/EIS and ESIA, and associated management plans
  • Serve as lead technical expert or QA/QC reviewer
  • Deliver projects meeting scope, budget, schedule, and quality
  • Lead, manage, hire, mentor, and retain technical teams
  • Expand ERM’s profile and market share through technical excellence and business development
  • Collaborate with internal teams and global practitioners on multidisciplinary projects
  • Support growth of ERM’s international technical community
  • Drive strategic growth of mining-sector EIA practice
  • Lead client engagement and project delivery activities
  • Provide technical leadership on complex international mining assessments
  • Mentor high-performing consulting teams

Job description

  • Develop and implement strategic business/action plans to expand capital project delivery services and the mining client base

  • Prepare environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, environmental and social impact assessments, and associated management plans
  • Serve as lead technical expert or QA/QC reviewer
  • Deliver projects meeting client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality
  • Lead, manage performance, hire and retain, inspire, and mentor technical team members
  • Expand ERM’s profile and market share through technical excellence and business development
  • Collaborate with internal teams and global practitioners on multidisciplinary projects
  • Support the growth and development of ERM’s international technical community
  • Drive strategic growth of ERM’s mining-sector environmental and social impact assessment practice

Requirements
  • BS/MS in sciences, environmental studies, planning, geography, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6–8+ years of consulting experience with impact assessment and multi-media permitting, particularly on international projects
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business growth strategies within the mining, energy, or capital projects sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships and generate bookable sales
  • Established relationships with mining companies
  • Strong understanding of key impact assessment and management issues within the mining sector
  • High degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of impact assessment best practices
  • Recognized technical expertise and established reputation in the marketplace, including credibility with regulators involved in impact assessment approvals
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, collaboration, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated integrity, executive presence, and ability to address complex client and business challenges effectively
  • Positive outlook, collaborative mindset, and commitment to the success of ERM as a global organization
  • Experience leading environmental and social impact assessments for projects financed by international lending institutions, including the World Bank
