Job summary

  • Administer change processes, including change-order creation, authorization, status tracking, and integration with engineering, quality, and mission-assurance functions.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of change packages—from initiation through closure—verifying implementation and updating status records.
  • Provide technical configuration liaison with senior internal and external stakeholders, delivering presentations and coordinating cross-functional resolution of configuration issues.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems currently has an opening for a Principal Configuration Analyst. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You’ll Get To Do
  • Facilitate and document Configuration Control Boards, Technical Review Boards, and Change Boards.
  • Establish, maintain, and audit configuration-management libraries for documents, software, and hardware items.
  • Plan and coordinate preparation, review, and release of engineering drawings, production specifications, schedules, and contract modifications to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Administer change processes, including change-order creation, authorization, status tracking, and integration with engineering, quality, and mission-assurance functions.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of change packages—from initiation through closure—verifying implementation and updating status records.
  • Perform configuration status accounting, generate metrics, and produce reports on baseline maturity and item status.
  • Conduct configuration audits and verify correct marking of documents per contract and corporate guidance.
  • Execute contract and supplier data-requirement activities, including planning, scheduling, delivery, and maintaining Supplier Statements of Work and Supplier Requirements Documents.
  • Support development, enhancement, and maintenance of configuration-management and data-management tools.
  • Provide technical configuration liaison with senior internal and external stakeholders, delivering presentations and coordinating cross-functional resolution of configuration issues.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university and 5 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 3 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 1 year of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of DoD contracts and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
  • Knowledge of configuration-management principles and best practices, including standards such as EIA-649-1, MIL-HDBK-61, and GEIA-859.
  • Experience developing and maintaining program plans, process documentation, and configuration-management tools.
  • Proficiency with configuration-management data tools such as Atlassian Jira, Confluence, and Tableau.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface across all levels of the organization.

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
