Job Overview

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Architect Engineer to join its team. This position is in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You Will Get To Do

As a SEIT Verification engineer, you will be responsible for defining and coordinating the Sentinel systems engineering strategy for the allocation and verification of military and industry standards, levied against the Sentinel program. You will act as a cross-cutting liaison between SEIT Directors, Specialty Engineering, and various Business Units as the subject matter expert on how requirements verification is handled in the program. The successful candidate must have a strong engineering background, understand how requirements from military and industry standards are decomposed, allocated and verified into Sentinel performance specification. You will be responsible to coordinate requirements verification and report status to the SEIT leadership.

The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of system engineering requirement decomposition, the Sentinel program strategy, and general understanding of the Specialty Engineering requirement set. Experience with DOORS is a must. In addition, the successful candidate should have enthusiasm to learn and coordinate with all levels of engineering across the Sentinel Program.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support the program requirements lead to develop and maintain the system level requirement specification
  • Collaborate with program subject matter experts and various teams to ensure lower-level requirements are appropriately decomposed
  • Candidate will manage system level information, using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools/software
  • Collaborate with US Government stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met.
Basic Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

Principal Systems Engineer Basic Qualifications
  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need )
  • 1+ years’ experience developing requirements in DOORS
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 8 years experience OR a Master's Degree and 6 years experience OR a PhD and 4 years experience.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need )
  • 3+ years’ experience developing requirements in DOORS
Preferred Qualifications
  • US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification
  • Cameo/MBSE experience
  • Knowledge of System Integration and Test Principles
  • Previous test experience at any level of build (unit, element, segment, etc.)
  • Experience working with internal and external teams to accomplish tasking
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present technical details to peers, and stakeholders
  • Experience with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) standards and methods
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tool sets (JIRA, CONFLUENCE...etc.)

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
