Job summary

Riot Games in Los Angeles is seeking a Principal Concept Artist to bring champions, environments, props and skins to life with stylized visuals. You will shape the future of League’s art style, set standards, and uplift teammates through mentorship.

Reporting to the Concept Art Lead, you will solve visual design challenges within gameplay constraints and collaborate across disciplines to deliver production-ready concepts.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional concept art for games or animation.
• Strong portfolio showing ideation, character, prop and environment work.
• Expert-level Photoshop or equivalent software proficiency.
• Solid understanding of stylized art fundamentals: anatomy, form, lighting and color.
• Ability to draw influence from diverse sources and communicate concepts clearly.
• Collaborative communicator in cross-disciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

• Partner with creative leadership to explore new cosmetic themes for League’s champions and environments.
• Concept characters, environments, props, and skin lines that support gameplay and aesthetics.
• Translate design intent and constraints into production-ready concept art and orthographics.
• Develop moodboards, style guides, and pitch materials for 3D, VFX, and animation teams.
• Mentor artists and provide constructive feedback to raise craft quality.
