Job description
What You Will Do
  • You will provide mechanical engineering support for a common CAS, adapting to adopter needs. Support may include detailed mechanical design, earned‑value management, test design and execution, and systems engineering.
  • You will serve as the main product POC and may lead a small team of lower‑level professionals.
  • You will flex responsibilities based on the organization’s current needs and skill sets.
  • You will work autonomously with minimal oversight, manage moderate‑size projects, delegate tasks, and leverage expert knowledge of control‑mechanism development to solve complex problems and influence policies and procedures.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • A STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (unless local law prohibits).
  • Or an advanced degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in mechanical mechanism design or flight‑control systems for aerospace applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience developing flight‑control systems for aerospace applications.
  • Experience collaborating with major sub‑tier suppliers.
  • Knowledge of design and verification testing for common or composable products.
  • Flexibility to travel to supplier sites (including the United Kingdom) for TIMs.
  • Experience creating daily action plans and tracking actions using a RAIL.
  • Ability to perform performance testing on actuators and interpret results.
  • Familiarity with gear design, motor design, and control architecture concepts.
  • Experience with Creo modeling software and Windchill/cPDM for TDP maintenance and supply‑chain support.
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Basic proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for model development and data analysis.
  • Experience integrating hardware and working with dSPACE real‑time test systems.
  • Strong project‑level effort estimation skills.
  • Cross‑collaboration experience with geographically distributed teams.
  • Certification in Earned Value Project Management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for technical, non‑technical, and management audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The salary range for this role is $101,000 – $203,000.
