The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Principal Cloud Security Engineer to join our Corporate IT team based in our Canton, MA office or remote within the United States. The Cloud Security Engineer designs, builds, and manages secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on Azure. This role involves developing infrastructure-as-code (IaC) projects, automating CI/CD pipelines, and integrating security best practices throughout deployment. The engineer collaborates with lead architects to optimize solutions, ensures compliance with industry standards, and supports operational innovation. Additionally, the role requires advanced troubleshooting, and design skills, as well as attention to security and technology. Some of the Principal Cloud Security Engineer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Secure and manage Azure cloud infrastructures, ensuring optimal performance, security, availability, and scalability.
  • Use Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) and GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • Implement and enforce cloud-native security measures, integrating SIEM Azure services and third-party products.
  • Develop and maintain secure, resilient enterprise-grade cloud processes.
  • Protect business applications in compliance with privacy, security, and compliance frameworks.
  • Deploy strong identity and access management (IDAM) controls across applications and computing environments.
  • Conduct rigorous oversight of security systems and configurations to reduce risk.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance industry standards and regulations by conducting regular audits, implementing security measures, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evolving compliance requirements.
  • Actively monitor, assess, and recommend initiatives based on emerging threats.
  • Manage remediation efforts after security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing.

The expertise you bring

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years experience in security, with deep focus on Azure services and infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud security, network architecture within Azure, and the integration of third-party security and monitoring tools.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in designing and managing multi-region Azure environments, incorporating services such as VM, Blob storage, Database, security Monitor, containers and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated ability to document and support scalable, efficient, and operable infrastructure solutions
  • Experience with modern cloud architecture, and able to explain the pros and cons of each as applied to a particular problem or implementation.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (TypeScript, Java, Python, SQL, power shell, bash etc.).
  • Familiarity with international and state privacy laws.
  • Holds or is working toward certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer, Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator, or Microsoft Security Operations Analyst.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience, and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $128,000 – $169,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $149,000 -$174,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include:
