Job summary

PEMCO seeks a Principal Claims Adjuster, Property in Seattle, WA, with occasional travel to our headquarters. You will lead principal-level property claims, thoroughly investigate, evaluate, and negotiate to deliver outstanding service for customers.

You will interact with policyholders, agents, and attorneys; coordinate vendors; and apply advanced contract/regulatory knowledge to complex claims in WA and OR. A senior adjuster with 10 years of experience and Xactimate proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• A BA/BS or equivalent experience in business or related field is required.
• 10 years of experience in adjusting moderate to complex property/casualty claims.
• Insurance designations or certifications are preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is required.
• Advanced proficiency with residential construction and estimating software (Xactimate) is required.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations is required.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Occasional CAT duty as needed.
• Issue timely claims payments with high authority; escalate for review when outside authority.
• Interact with policyholders, agents, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and vendors to resolve claims.
• Manage fluctuating workload with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and service.
• Direct and coordinate vendors/experts to meet restoration timelines and keep insured informed.
• Conduct physical inspections at loss sites to determine scope and estimate costs.
• Collaborate with SIU, subrogation, auto PD, and total loss teams where needed.
• Build rapport with policyholders, customers, agents, carriers, attorneys and vendors for prompt resolution.
• Apply contract, regulatory, and compliance knowledge to complex property claims in WA/OR.
• Demonstrate PEMCO values and ethics in daily work and decision making.

Why We Need You

PEMCO has an opportunity for a Principal Claims Adjuster, Property to join our community. This position is responsible for principal level property claims adjusting that provides outstanding service to all customers while thoroughly investigating, evaluating, negotiating property claims.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Occasional CAT duty as needed
• Issue timely claims payments with a high level of claims payment authority; present files outside of authority level for review and approval.
• Interact with policyholders, agents, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, contractors, public adjusters and other vendors/partners to facilitate accurate, prompt claims resolution.
• Effectively manage fluctuating workload, with minimal supervision, while maintaining focus on claims quality and customer experience.
• Direct and coordinate vendors and experts in order to achieve restoration project timeline goals while keeping insured apprised, ensuring remarkable customer experience.
• Conduct physical inspections at the scene of loss to determine scope of damage and control estimates provided by vendors.
• Collaborate with other internal departments in recognizing and referring claims involving SIU, subrogation, auto physical damage, and total loss.
• Build rapport with policyholders, customers, agents, carriers, attorneys and vendors to facilitate prompt and accurate claim resolution.
• Apply case and statutory law in the proactive adjustment of complex property claims located in Washington and Oregon.
• Accurately interpret coverage using advanced level contract, regulatory and compliance knowledge, following company file handling procedures.

What You'll Bring

• B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience (business or related field)
• 10 years of experience in adjusting moderate to complex property and/or casualty claims is required. Claims experience in combination with transferable experience in contracting or water mitigation will be considered.
• Insurance industry designations or certifications preferred
• MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook is required
• Job specific: Advanced proficiency with residential construction and estimating software, such as Xactimate is required
• Compliance: Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, rules, and regulations is required
• Job specific: Valid driver's license and a good driving record is required

Compensation

The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual’s qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

• Greater Seattle area target pay range: $105,762 - $129,264. The full pay range is $88,135 - $ $146,891

Outside Greater Seattle area target pay range: $93,337- $114,079. The full pay range is $77,781 - $129,634 .
