Overview

Lincoln & Creed is recruiting on behalf of a leading California-based civil engineering and design firm for a Principal Civil Engineer – Water. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer seeking career progression and the opportunity to lead and expand a Water business unit. This position involves engineering and design of water and potable water facilities, leading project delivery, and developing a high-performing team in an entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Update and implement the strategic plan for the Water team
• Lead planning, engineering, and cost estimation for water collection and treatment projects
• Develop strong client relationships and lead business development efforts
• Oversee water infrastructure design from concept to final bid packages (PS&E)
• Ensure deliverables meet scope, budget, timeline, and quality standards
• Establish processes and standards for efficiency and quality
• Recruit and onboard talent; mentor junior staff
• Independently complete projects and manage small engineering teams
• Prepare technical documentation including memos, reports, and studies
• Represent projects in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and contractors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil preferred)
• 10–15 years of experience in water and potable infrastructure projects
• California Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• 2–5 years of supervisory experience preferred
• Proficiency in construction drawing development for pipelines and lift stations
• Skilled in preparing specifications and cost estimates
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project)
• Location: Remote (California residents only) with occasional travel to Los Angeles for meetings and site visits
• Travel: 5–10%
• Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs or ladders and navigate uneven terrain for job walks
• Visa Status: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
