Our client is looking for a Principal Chemist to be the company’s senior chemist responsible for working with the Operations, Business Development and Technology teams to develop new product formulations and test existing product formulations to meet identified customer needs and proactively develop new product innovations to meet broad or emerging market needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead Research and Development: Direct and oversee complex chemical research projects, including the formulation, synthesis, and testing of new products or processes.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert-level guidance on analytical techniques, chemical formulations, and laboratory procedures to support innovation and problem-solving.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all laboratory work complies with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, REACH).
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor junior chemists and lab personnel, fostering skill development and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and scientific excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, quality assurance, manufacturing, and marketing to align chemical research with business goals.
  • Innovation and Problem Solving: Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, methods, or materials that enhance product performance or manufacturing efficiency.
  • Quality Control: Oversee and improve quality control processes to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance in all chemical products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree Chemistry
  • 4+ years experience in product development and formulation
  • Experience in oil field chemistry

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
