Job description

The Lexington Philharmonic is seeking a Principal Bassoon for their orchestra. The position is set to begin on November 16, 2026, with an application deadline of October 19, 2026. The orchestra operates on a per service basis, and during the 2025-2026 season, the Principal Bassoon was guaranteed a minimum of 28 services at a rate of $134.75 per service. Future compensation and service guarantees will be determined through a Collective Bargaining Agreement.Musicians residing outside of Lexington may receive partial travel and housing reimbursements, including $0.35 per mile for up to 220 miles round trip and a $70 per night stipend for accommodations in Lexington. The concert cycle typically includes four evening rehearsals from Tuesday to Friday, followed by a Saturday concert.
