Job summary

MANTECH is seeking a Principal AWS Cloud Engineer to lead design, deployment, and security management of its core AWS environment in Chantilly, VA. You will serve as the primary cloud security authority with deep expertise in threat detection and multi-cloud alignment with Azure and OCI.

The role requires strong IaC skills, Zero Trust experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, resilient cloud solutions for government and commercial clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of IT/engineering experience.
• 7+ years of cloud computing/engineering experience with AWS.
• Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Experience designing, building, securing enterprise AWS environments (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Route53, RDS, CloudFront, Lambda).
• Proficient in IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) and scripting (Python/Bash/PowerShell).
• Expertise in multi-account governance, Zero Trust, and automated cloud security monitoring pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Act as principal SME for administration, security hardening, and management of AWS enterprise infrastructure.
• Architect, deploy, and optimize automated cloud security monitoring, threat detection, and logging using AWS services.
• Lead IaC/CaC deployment with Terraform or CloudFormation in a code-first workflow.
• Enforce IAM governance, SCPs, least-privilege access, and Zero Trust across multi-account AWS Organizations.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex cloud, network, security, and performance issues.
• Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline operations and telemetry.
• Collaborate with teams to align AWS security baselines with Azure and OCI and prepare audit documentation.
