Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Principal Architect for Stock Plan Technology within Workplace Services Engineering in a on-site role in Texas. You will define and drive the architectural vision, modernization roadmap, and site reliability engineering for the platform that supports Schwab's equity compensation services.

The role requires deep expertise across architecture domains, cloud platforms, containerization, and compliance within financial services, with leadership responsibilities spanning

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive technology experience including 5+ years as a Solution/Enterprise/Principal Architect in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve current- and future-state architectures across platforms and priorities.
• Drive decomposition of monolithic systems to cloud-native microservices and API-first architectures.
• Enforce architectural principles, reference architectures, ADRs, and governance across modernization initiatives.
• Improve system stability, availability, observability, and performance through modernization efforts.
• Translate complex technical strategies into business outcomes and secure executive alignment.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and cloud engineering practices.
