Job summary

Nokia in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Sr. Principal Architect/Lead - Platform to design scalable, fault-tolerant systems using Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud/on-prem technologies.

You will shape platform architecture and guide distributed services to deliver high availability and cost efficiency. You will mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, document decisions, and collaborate across teams to optimize multi-tenant shared services such as databases, MQTT, Keycloak, and blob storage.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with Kubernetes deployment and cluster operations.
• Proficiency in DevOps automation and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and production operations.
• Experience with public cloud services (EKS, EC2, S3) and on-prem equivalents.
• Strong networking knowledge and multi-tenant service design.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead the design and development of scalable, fault-tolerant platforms, leveraging Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud/on-prem technologies. As the Sr. Principal Architect/Lead - Platform, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our platform architecture. Your expertise in Kubernetes, DevOps automation, and distributed systems will be instrumental in building highly available, cost-efficient platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant platforms using Kubernetes and DevOps practices.
• Architect and optimize multi-tenant shared services, including databases, MQTT, cert-manager, Keycloak, and blob storage.
• Ensure real-world availability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency of platform services.

• Expertise in networking, including L4/L7 load balancers.
• Ability to design and optimize multi-tenant shared services.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
