Job summary

Target is seeking a Principal Application Security Engineer to provide technical leadership for our enterprise Application Security program. This role leads secure development practices, integrates security into the software development lifecycle, and partners with engineering teams to reduce application risk through scalable security solutions.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of software engineering or security engineering experience.
Expertise in SSDLC, SAST, DAST, SCA, Threat Modeling, and Penetration Testing.
Experience integrating security into CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows.
Experience building and scaling security programs across large organizations.
Experience applying AI/Generative AI to security workflows.
Ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
Experience securing cloud-native apps in AWS/Azure/GCP; Kubernetes knowledge.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across SSDLC, SAST, DAST, SCA, Threat Modeling and Penetration Testing.
Guide teams in remediation and secure coding practices.
Develop automation to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines.
Define the security roadmap and scale a large engineering organization.
Mentor engineers and communicate risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
